3 Helpful Tips for Trading Pins at Disney

Disney Pins are cute, small and easy to collect as souvenirs. They are easy to pack and carry with you and an extra fun way to interact with cast members. Fun fact, Disney pins have always been around but trading them didn’t happen until 1999 when Disney had their Millennium Celebration.

Tip #1 Disney cast members will trade you pins, just look for their lanyards. Green lanyards are only for kids but any other color is fair game, but in Disneyland the kid lanyards are teal.

Here are some quick pin rules; pins must be authentic (©Disney) located on the back, well taken care of, and if they have Mickey ear backings on the pin cast members have to trade whatever pin you wish for. Disclaimer- There are still a few special pins that they can deny but for the most part it’s your choosing.

Tip # 2 You can trade at all Disney parks located below: 

• Walt Disney World Resort (Florida) (Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Animal Kingdom)
• Disneyland Resort (California) (Disneyland, California Adventure)
• Disneyland Paris (Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney Studios Park)
• Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (Hong Kong Disneyland)
• Shanghai Disney Resort (Shanghai Disneyland)

Tip # 3 Disney pins come in various price ranges grouped by color. As of now the green and silver pins are $9.99, blue and yellow are $12.99, and pink are $14.99. It’s best to purchase the green and silver pins and try to trade for the blue, yellow or pink pins. Also, buying a pin beginner package is helpful.
